Type: Clinical Summary
Hereditary Spastic Paraplegia (HSP) is a genetically heterogeneous, predominantly lower‑limb‑predominant neurodegenerative disorder caused by distal axonal degeneration of the corticospinal tracts, producing progressive spasticity and weakness. This review reports a single-center series of 37 patients who underwent Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR) for HSP-associated spasticity (1988–2021) and summarizes patient selection, surgical technique, safety, outcomes, and practical guidance for clinicians considering SDR in HSP.
